Netflix has launched the third edition of its regional “Women in Film” initiative in collaboration with the Arab Fund for Arts and Culture, further strengthening its commitment to supporting women filmmakers across the Middle East and North Africa.
The program, titled “Women in Film III: Training Through Practice,” will bring together 35 participants from Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Egypt, Jordan, and Kuwait. It is designed to enhance women’s representation in the regional film industry while contributing to a more sustainable and inclusive creative ecosystem.
This edition introduces two dedicated learning tracks. The first supports writers, directors, and producers in developing and packaging film projects through structured mentorship. The second focuses on technical disciplines such as cinematography, editing, and sound design, offering hands-on training and industry exposure.
Participants will engage in workshops, virtual mentorship sessions, and an intensive in-person residency aimed at refining storytelling and production skills. The initiative also reflects growing regional investment in nurturing creative talent and strengthening production capabilities across Arab cinema.
According to program leaders, the collaboration highlights the importance of empowering women to shape narratives rooted in their own lived experiences while expanding access to global storytelling platforms.
Applications for the program remain open until July 17, with selected participants to be announced later in the year, continuing the program’s role in elevating emerging voices in regional film today.
