Abu Dhabi Expands Child Mental Healthcare With New Specialist Support Network

Abu Dhabi has launched SAKINA for Children, a dedicated mental health network designed to strengthen access to psychiatric, developmental, and therapeutic services for children and adolescents across the emirate.

Introduced by PureHealth, the initiative provides a comprehensive care model that brings together outpatient consultations, early intervention programmes, specialised therapies, and inpatient mental health support for individuals up to the age of 18.

The network is expected to assist nearly 500 young patients every month through tailored treatment plans focused on the early detection and management of behavioural, psychological, and developmental challenges.

SAKINA for Children offers a wide range of services, including child and adolescent psychiatry, developmental paediatrics, occupational therapy, speech and language therapy, behavioural support, and family-focused psychological care.

A key component of the initiative is its specialised inpatient facilities, which provide intensive support for children experiencing acute mental health conditions or complex neurodevelopmental disorders. These units operate through a multidisciplinary approach, bringing together psychiatrists, psychologists, therapists, and families to ensure coordinated care and long-term wellbeing.

The launch reflects Abu Dhabi’s growing commitment to strengthening mental health services and creating a more accessible, integrated support system for children and young people throughout the emirate.
